Jeremy May
Founder & CEO
Prior to founding Paralel, Jeremy spent 24 years at ALPS as part of the executive team that grew the business from a startup to an eventual sale to a large public company. When he retired in 2019, Jeremy was President of ALPS Fund Services and ALPS Distributors. Before joining ALPS, Jeremy was an auditor with Deloitte where he earned his CPA. Jeremy serves as an independent director on a number of investment company boards including Russell Funds. Passionate about philanthropy, Jeremy serves as a Trustee of the A.V. Hunter Trust, the oldest private foundation in Colorado, and on the Advisory Board for the Renee Crown Wellness Institute at the University of Colorado. Jeremy recently retired from the Board of Directors of the University of Colorado Foundation, having served on the Board for 18 years, the last two as Board Chair. Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Colorado.
Nick Austin
Director, Fund Administration
Nick has over 16 years of experience in the investment management industry and is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of Colorado and Texas. Prior to joining Paralel, Nick was Vice President/Fund Controller at SS&C/ALPS, where he provided fund administration services to open-end and closed-end registered funds including interval funds, and served as the technical expert and manager of the fund controller group. Prior to joining SS&C/ALPS, Nick was a Senior Manager at KPMG LLC, where he provided audit services to clients in the financial services and communications industries, with a focus on private equity and registered investment funds. In that capacity, he coordinated the review and issuance of financial statements, registration statements, SOC 1 reports, and comfort letters for a variety of clients. Nick holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Denver.
Alyssa Campbell
Chief of Staff
Alyssa has 10 years of experience in office administration, event coordination, and people operations. Prior to Chief of Staff, Alyssa served as Head of People & Culture, where she helped shape Paralel’s employee experience, led people initiatives, and supported organizational growth. Before that, she served as Paralel’s Office Manager, where she established day-to-day office operations and successfully supported two office relocations as the team expanded. Prior to joining Paralel, Alyssa was the Risk Education Coordinator for State Volunteer Mutual Insurance Company (SVMIC), where she managed continuing education seminars for medical professionals throughout the Southeast. During her time at SVMIC, she held several roles, including corporate receptionist, philanthropy committee member supporting the United Way of Williamson County campaign, and culture champion within the Risk Education department. Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Belmont University.
Aaron Gregg
Director, Transfer Agency
Aaron has more than 21 years of experience in Transfer Agency Services. Prior to joining Paralel, Aaron was Director of Transfer Agency Services at SS&C/ALPS. During his time at SS&C/ALPS, Aaron supported and managed many departments including Financial Control, Processing, Investor Services and Data Team. Throughout his career, he has focused on identifying customer focused solutions that provide clients as well as internal teams with resources and technology to create synergies across functional groups. His accomplishments include a successful TA platform conversion with 30+ clients and numerous process improvements that streamlined processes while allowing for tighter controls. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Yelena Kalmykov
Director, Tax
Yelena has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Paralel, Yelena was the Head of Fund Tax at BNP Paribas. During her time at BNP Paribas, Yelena built out the tax team and implemented more efficient processes that resulted in reducing potential risk and liability for clients. Prior to that, Yelena spent over 11 years at SS&C/ALPS in Tax Administration, most recently as Vice President. Before joining SS&C/ALPS, Yelena spent seven years at Oppenheimer Funds in various fund operational groups, including mutual fund tax and financial analysis. Yelena worked at Metlife Financial Services prior to joining Oppenheimer Funds. Yelena holds an MBA and Master of Science in Finance from the University of Colorado.
Jill Kerschen
Director, Client Engagement
Jill has more than 26 years of experience in mutual fund administration. Prior to joining Paralel, Jill spent eight years at SS&C/ALPS in fund administration and most recently as Vice President, Fund Operations. During her eight years at SS&C/ALPS she served as Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer for a number of closed-end mutual funds and open-end mutual funds. Prior to that, Jill spent twelve years at Great-West Financial in various fund administration roles including financial reporting, tax and compliance, specifically related to mutual funds, collective trusts and separate accounts. Before joining Great-West Financial, Jill worked at Oppenheimer Funds. Jill holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Kansas State University.
Scott McVicker
Data Strategy
Scott has more than 20 years of experience in mutual fund accounting, specializing in valuations, reference data, and corporate actions. Prior to joining Paralel, Scott was Vice President of Fund Accounting at SS&C/ALPS. During his time at SS&C/ALPS, Scott oversaw a team that was responsible for the daily data collection, processing and analysis for Security Master Setups, Corporate Actions, and Pricing for 200+ funds as well as end of day data dissemination. Over his career, Scott has built relationships with the industry leading data providers including ICE and Bloomberg. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Iowa.
Chris Moore
General Counsel & CCO
Chris has more than 16 years of legal and accounting experience in the investment management industry. Prior to joining Paralel, Chris was the Deputy General Counsel and Legal Operations Manager at RiverNorth Capital Management, LLC, a boutique investment advisor. Prior to that, Chris spent four years as Vice President and Senior Counsel at SS&C/ALPS where he served as an executive officer to ALPS’ open-end series trusts as well as numerous closed-end funds. Before joining SS&C/ALPS, Chris was an Associate at Thompson Hine LLP, Corporate Counsel at DSW Inc., and a CPA Audit and Assurance Associate at Ernst & Young LLP. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, a Masters in Accounting from Grand Valley State, and a JD from THE Ohio State University.
Daniel Sen
Director of Trading and Research
Dan has over 10 years of experience in the investment management and financial services industry. Prior to joining Paralel, Dan served as a senior analyst with the ETF portfolio management and research team at ALPS Advisors. In this role, he was actively involved in the portfolio management, trading, and research functions for ALPS ETFs and passive funds. Dan also played a key role in developing quantitative passive investment strategies and led the management of the firm’s proprietary index. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Saint Louis University. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society Colorado.
Bradley Swenson
President of Paralel Distributors
Brad has more than 27 years of experience in the mutual fund industry, focusing on operations and compliance. Prior to joining Paralel, Brad spent seventeen years at SS&C/ALPS. During his time at SS&C/ALPS, Brad served in various capacities including, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Operating Officer and President of ALPS Fund Services and ALPS Distributors. In addition to those roles, Brad built and lead the Fund CCO services division and served as Fund CCO and President to various closed-end, ETF and mutual fund trusts. Before joining SS&C/ALPS, Brad held various roles at Janus Capital Group and Oppenheimer Funds, including Senior Audit Manager and Compliance Manager. Brad holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and holds FINRA Series 3, 7, 24, and 27 licenses.
Aaron Varnum
Director, Product Innovation
Aaron has 20 years of experience in mutual fund accounting. Prior to Director of Product Innovation, Aaron served as Director of Fund Accounting, where he implemented FIS InvestOne and fund accounting processes and procedures at Paralel and focused on automation of daily NAV calculations using modern technology and cloud infrastructure to remove manual processes from the workflow. Prior to joining Paralel, Aaron was Director of Fund Accounting at SS&C/ALPS. During his time at SS&C/ALPS, Aaron held a variety of positions in the fund accounting department. His accomplishments include leading the technology conversion to the FIS InvestOne platform and leading initiatives to use technology to strengthen controls and create efficiencies in the day-to-day accounting process. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Colorado State University.
Jonathan Vickery
Chief Technology Officer
Jonathan has more than 28 years of financial services and FinTech experience. Prior to joining Paralel, Jon was a Managing Director at Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH), serving most recently as Head of Business Transformation and Head of Middle Office & FinTech Products. During his 26 years at BBH, Jon led the integration of large, acquired technology platforms to establish and grow the firm’s FinTech and Middle Office offerings. Prior to that, he held numerous leadership roles within Investor Services, including Head of Client Service and Head of Global Custody Products. Jon holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Northeastern University and an MBA from Boston University.
Steven Perry
Director, Business Development
Steven has nearly 10 years of experience in asset management and financial services. Prior to joining Paralel, Steven was a Vice President at XA Investments focused on listed and non-listed closed-end fund product management and business development. He was also tasked with helping lead the XA Investments consulting and research practices. Previously, Steven worked consulting lenders across the country in the government guarantee lending space at Windsor Advantage. Prior to his financial career, Steven was drafted in the third round of the 2011 Major League Soccer SuperDraft and played five years of professional soccer. Steven received his B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
Laura Howard
Head of Product Development
Laura has over 10 years of experience in financial services and product development. Prior to joining Paralel, Laura was a Vice President at Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH). During her time at BBH, Laura was the product owner of the trade management services platform within the Investment Operations group. In addition, Laura worked on various data services and middle office applications including messaging, data management, and corporate actions. Prior to that, Laura was a project manager in the Fund Accounting Systems team at BBH. Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from Bentley University.
Sean Ryan
Director, Fund Accounting
Sean has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Paralel, Sean was Assistant Treasurer and Sr Manager of Fund Treasury at Transamerica Asset Management. In this role, Sean focused on strengthening the Advisor's control environment by maturing policies and procedures for the Transamerica complex of mutual funds and CITs. He was also responsible for overseeing fund launches and mergers, fund expenses, and board reporting. Prior to Transamerica, Sean was the Sr Director of Registered Fund Accounting at SS&C/ALPS, where he oversaw the fund accounting team's day-to-day accounting of Open End Funds, Close End Funds, Interval Funds and ETFs. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from the University of Colorado.
